happy birthday kurt! sorry about capitalism. sorry about everything, really. things got so much worse than you thought they would. i heard "heart shaped box" in target the other day, yknow. like fuckin even your very image isn't even yours anymore in death, it's become nothing more than a good to be bought and sold. if youre useful to capitalism it just fucking eats you. tearing and slicing your very memory until your once-humanity disappears into the gaping maw of symbol, as with norma jeane mortenson and so many others before you. it sucks shit ass dick dude. sorry about that.
RELATED: i opened a teespring. only 2 products rn but ill add more later. please buy my shirts
when i was about 5 or 6 one of the wild cats in our town, one we had befriended, had a litter, and was nursing it in our backyard. as a favor to her and her kittens we adopted two of the four and gave another two away. the two we kept were a calico and a tabby. the calico was named, by my deadhead mother, for the steely dan album "aja."
"aja" is widely considered to be one of the best albums ever. many an audiophile has drooled over its production quality, many a jazz pianist has stretched their fingers stiff at its delightfully sophisticated progressions, many a dad has sung its praises to his disinterested kids. despite its los angeles recording, there's a certain mid-atlanticity to this album. it's got a certain lazy, feline casualness that brings to mind a cloudy spring day upstate, the flowers not yet in bloom, but the weather fairly temperate. the album is best described as by its own creators in "deacon blues": "languid and bittersweet."
it's not perfect though. "i heard the news," somehow, manages to be both repetitive and forgettable. sometimes it overdoes the whole bluesy flat-third thing but that's just my personal taste. a good 4/5 though. where are my unicode stars
fav. track: either "peg" and "aja" depending on how depressed i am while listening
continuing my tradition of bi-monthly updates i have made a new post on my sweet blogo. im just announcing that i started using soundcloud again. i used it a lot a year ago but then i just stopped when i got a really long period of artists block. here it is. i released 2 tracks on it, one of them a cut from the upcoming opossums album and one of them an original song i made as a joke.
it has been deux months since i last updated this website, again. but i revamped it! now its got way more moving shit and the palette is more consistent. also i got rid of the comics because they were stupid. maybe ill bring them back. they might get their own page. i hope you like this cool new ReDeSiGn because i do.
it has been deux months since i last updated this website, mostly because i haven't had much to blog about. sorry
i swear to god this is true but i dropped my phone in soup on accident and it stopped charging. it was an iphone se which i switched back to from an iphone 7 becaus its so reliable and strong and square and it has ACTUAL BUTTONS (!) which is nice
i have been theorizing that apple has been deliberately sabotaging iphone SEs. basically everyone i know uses either an iphone SE or an android and everyones been having the same problem where it "runs out of charge" at like 30%. and i really would not put that sort of thing past apple
the first ramones album, the ramones, turned 43 today! since i started listening to them ive absolutely loved their style. it's a real shame theyre considered only a punk rock band because a lot of the ramones resembles what you would get if you took the ideas of steve reich and applied them to pop music. the ramones are the ultimate "melody over chords" pop band. joey is singing his melody and the entire rest of the band is just keeping the progression and rhythm down and doing basically nothing else. no guitar solos, no riffs, no extended chords, only the occasional fill or walk-up. all played perfectly in time, perfectly tight, not a single mistake audible. even the sex pistols couldn't reach that sheer level of perfection-in-simplicity. later in their career, producers and things would make them expand beyond that, and with a few exceptions, that never really reached the sheer level of energy as their first four albums.
fav. track: "i wanna be your boyfriend"
went and saw some trees and rocks today at the thomas bull memorial park. it was very cool, i have always liked plants pretty well. theyre just nice looking you know?
they made a homestuck sort of sequel written entirely in prose (no images) which honestly homestuck was always leading towards anyway with how dense it was. it was very bad, i wasn't even particularly invested in the characters anymore and it was still a disappointment. i have heard on twitter and such that this was the very point - it was like, a statement about how you can never get what you want? or something? nobody was really clear about it which makes me think that it might be just an excuse for having written something bad. either way, statement or not, you could have just written something good. this has been my eloquent literary critique of homestuck 2
i got a new laptop and a tablet and i deleted my tumblr and ive decided to try and use twitter less, so thats p cool. just gonna try and be happy. draw more and stuff. make more music. make music for myself more. learn to do more things, like electronics and coding and stuff. in august im gonna be old enough to drive, which will be rad. i'll be more independent finally.
im bid and i made this website
